Sugar Maple: Durable for All Types of Woodworking

Widely known as Sugar Maple, native to North America, known for its foliage and being the primary source for maple syrup. It was popular to woodworkers during the colonial period. Among the family of maples, sugar maple is the densest. It is one of the most widely used North American wood.

This wood is durable and hard. It requires very sharp and efficient tools. But because of its hardness, it can break brass screws when driven inside. This wood is used for bowling alleys and bowling pins, baseball bats, and musical instruments. In construction and woodworking, it is known for furniture and flooring. Other uses include tool handles, shoe lasts and farm equipment.

Here's a sample of Sugar Maple used on a bowling alley.
